Photographs and Adventures of Sam Harrison
Photographs and Adventures of Sam Harrison
Photography is in his blood. His dad, David, has been a news photographer for almost 20 years. When Sam was eight years old, Sam began asking to use his dad’s little digital Olympus camera and he started taking pictures of his world. First his subjects were other kids at the neighborhood playground or his family. At home he found two of his favorite subjects, his brother, Jack and sister, Lilly.
As Sam has ventured to new places he’s continued to want his camera around his neck. Whether it’s going to a mall, the grocery store, a rock climbing gym or parade down Main Street, he’s focused on recording what he sees.
Everyone has something that causes them to either see, or not to see. Sam has autism. He sees his world through a matrix of obstacles that may never leave him. For others, who have a typical view of life, it’s almost impossible to know what Sam’s thinking or how he views the world. Thankfully, he found that little camera and now it belongs to him.
